Our guides should help a Pittsburgh homeowner ask a better question, compare a clearer scope, or recognize what still needs professional evaluation.
Sources and cost examples
We link to the sources behind material claims, favoring official agencies, manufacturer documentation, and directly published local contractor information where relevant. A contractor’s published range is identified as that company’s example, not an independent market average or a quote for your home.
Prices depend on the work included, materials, access, property conditions, permits, and timing. We describe important assumptions and exclusions. We do not invent local averages, customer reviews, credentials, or firsthand project experience.
Dates and updates
Guides identify publication dates and, where provided, the date research was checked. A design or metadata update does not imply that a source or price was reverified. Readers should check the linked source and obtain current written estimates before committing to work.
Research outlines and incomplete drafts are not finished guides. Sources, image rights, excerpts, and the relevant publishing checks should be reviewed before publication. When a material error is identified, the affected guidance should be corrected and its context made clear.
Contractor directory checks
Directory cards identify the official website, public office details when available, and the date the source was checked. Listings are hidden automatically when their recorded check date is more than 180 days old. A check date is not a promise that the business is operating, insured, registered, or accepting work today.
Map pins approximate public offices rather than service areas or exact entrances. Trade images are illustrations, not photographs of a listed business. Review links lead to outside services; ratings are not copied or fabricated here.
Images and editorial independence
Illustrations may be used to explain a topic or give the site a local visual identity. They do not document a real repair, contractor job, or inspected property. Advertising and sponsorships do not purchase favorable editorial coverage.
